Concrete Before/After Example

Let's consider an example. Suppose you have the following prompt: Write a function to calculate the average of a list of numbers. Without any prompt codes, the AI might respond with a simple, but flawed implementation:

    return sum(numbers) / len(numbers)

This code will fail if the input list is empty. Now, let's add the L99 and /deepthink codes to the prompt: Write a function to calculate the average of a list of numbers. L99 /deepthink The AI responds with a more robust implementation:

def calculate_average(numbers):
    if len(numbers) == 0:
        raise ValueError("Cannot calculate average of an empty list")
    return sum(numbers) / len(numbers)

As you can see, the AI has identified a potential issue (division by zero) and provided a more comprehensive solution.

Anti-Patterns that Don't Work

Some users might try using /trim or /simplify alone, thinking that these codes will help streamline the code review process. However, these codes are better suited for refining existing code, rather than identifying potential issues. For example, using /trim might result in a more concise but still flawed implementation:

def calculate_average(numbers):
    return sum(numbers) / len(numbers) if numbers else 0

This code still fails to handle the case where the input list is empty. Others might attempt to use /punch or /hook, but these codes are more geared towards generating creative solutions, rather than providing rigorous code review.

When NOT to Use this Approach

While the L99 and /deepthink combination is powerful, it's not a silver bullet. This approach may not be suitable for extremely complex or specialized codebases, where human expertise is still essential. Additionally, the AI may struggle with very large codebases or those with unique requirements.
